The Brattleboro Food Co-op carries a wide selection of natural and organic foods as well as some commercial favorites. Our shelves hold approximately 14,000 different products, with bulk foods, a full service meat department, a deli, and a full line of vitamins, food supplements and homeopathic remedies. As a locally owned business, we are committed to stocking products from the Greater Brattleboro community and from Vermont in general. We also carry many ethnic and gourmet items. Ian Weber, Grocery Manager The wise shopper can save big in our bulk department. Nuts, grains, oils, nut butters, maple syrup, tea & coffee, herbs & spices, baking supplies and more can be purchased in quantities from a pinch to pounds. You can bring in your own containers, or get them here. By purchasing in bulk, you save money and cut down on excessive packaging, thereby doing the planet a favor, too
Whitney Knight, Bulk Manager We carry as much local produce as possible in season. Both organically grown and conventionally grown produce is always in stock. Our produce department also carries fresh herbs, plants and cut flowers.
John Truncale, Produce Manager The Deli features fresh, delicious store-made soups, salads and entrees. We specialize in nitrite-free meats, great cheeses and condiments, and can build a great sandwich. We also have a great salad bar and a juice bar. Choose between take-out or enjoying your meal in our comfortable Café.
Food Services
Our meat department features Coleman Natural Beef and Lamb, poultry that is free of added hormones, steroids and antibiotics, and fresh pork items; seafood delivered fresh twice a week. We make our own very tasty sausage and marinades from ingredients found on our own shelves (no sugar added).
Mark Braskie, Meat & Seafood Manager
Concerned about bovine growth hormone in your dairy products? So are we. 95% of dairy products in our milk cooler are BGH/rBST-free. We also carry a large number of cheeses without these hormones as well. We carry goat's milk, and both goat and sheep cheeses.
Our Cheese selecton is large and eclectic, and includes many cheeses produced locally. The dairy cooler holds organically produced milk, milk in environmentally friendly glass bottles, a variety of soy-based alternatives to milk and meat, and fresh salsas and dips. John Ferrara, Cheese Manager
The discriminating wine shopper is always impressed by our wine selection. Small by some standards, it is packed with the best wines available to us in the low-to-moderately priced category. Organically produced wines are our specialty. Our beer selection includes a variety of microbrewed and imported beers, with Vermont beers heavily represented. We are proud to offer a selection of beers from our own McNeill's Brewery of Brattleboro, winner of many national and international awards.
